An open letter to PM Harper

Prime minister, I am writing to express my extreme disapproval of the Keystone XL Pipeline project. Although I understand that many jobs will be created through going forwards with this project, and that the Americans will be better served by our oil reserves (particularly the tar sands), I can not help but view this project as myopic at best. The jobs will eventually end, and your children as well as future Canadians are going to be handed an environmental blight that needs to be taken care of for fear of further damage. Please put a stop to this project, and seek other forms of job creation that will be of net benefit to the future of Canada and her coming generations. Projects which show insight into the future, not those which are stuck in the past. Inspire the future, do not shackle it. Become the prime minister of the future, not the seller of it. "Did you find what you were looking for?" the shop keeper asked.

"No. It seems that you don't have any."

"What were you looking for exactly then?"

Walking out the door I meandered through the streets of mediocrity into the grey dust of a failed sunset.
