Walk, Don't Walk

Lastnight when I went to Canadian Tire to buy the rope, I saw something which demonstrated the human need to "fit in" and to not stand out. On the return journey, George and I came to a traffic-light that was red, and so we waited the near half second before it went green... but the walk indicator was still in the dont walk position.
I walked all the same, and so did many others... I spoted a woman on the other side of the street who had paused for a few seconds, waiting for the light to say that it was safe to go... but, during her pause, she looked to her left, right and ahead of her; noticing that all others were going. A look of discomfort came across her face, and hesitating, she began to walk across the street before the 'walk' sign had been flashed.
She comprimised herself so as to not stand out. I'm sure that she quickly forgot that she had, but I will not.
